Strength

After mentioning my old songs in a previous post I thought I’d make this video.  I wrote the following song on the 9th May 1994.  It’s called Strength and is basically a prayer to God that He will continue to give me strength to keep following Him.

It was around the time I was leaving home to go to university.  I was going to be on my own for the first time.  I would not have the accountability I had as I was growing up.

Strength
Music and Lyrics by Alastair Vance (9th May 1994)

Verse 1
In the midst of my troubles, You are there
On the highest mountain peaks, You are there
You’re always watching me
Lord give me strength to carry on

Verse 2
Help me walk the straight and narrow, give me strength
To help me keep my eyes on You, give me strength
I only want to seek Your face
Lord give me strength to carry on

Chorus
Give me strength to carry on
Through the rough times, keep me strong
Lord Jesus, give me strength to carry on

Verse 3
From the dawning of the day, You are there
To the setting of the sun, You are there
You’ll never leave my side
Lord give me strength to carry on

Bridge
Lord, I adore You
You’ve done everything for me
When I cry, You wipe the tears
And hold me in Your loving arms

Thats a real nice song…I’m liking it…what else ya got?

Can you do an mp3 of this so I can use it in the church

  3. snowjunkie Says:

    Thanks Klampert. That’s encouraging.

I wrote a number of songs between 1994 and 1997. Although, I think Strength is definitely one of the better ones. I’ll put some more up one by one.

Haven’t got an mp3 of it right now. I’m thinking of buying (borrowing) a microphone to record some audio. So, once I get the microphone I’ll record you a copy of Strength.

In the meantime I could try to convert the video source to mp3, but there is glitches in the audio as my camcorder is very old. What do you think?

  4. klampert Says:

get a minirecorder…they are cheap and great sound…

Thanks for visiting Scotti. Your poetry looks great. I’ll have to get a better read of it later. That’s an amazing talent.

    God Bless.

[…] The words of this song fit over and over again through life.  When I look back on life recently I can see God’s hand in it.  This is one of my favourite - next to Strength. […]

    Sophie,
Thanks so much for your kind words. I’m glad that God could use that song to speak to you. That’s the reason for doing this afterall. Check back soon as I hope to upload more videos this weekend.

    Alastair.
