Monster Jam
Sunday, January 27th, 2008Monster Jam was a good show once it started. Loads of noise, dust and diesel fumes. Not quite as much destruction as I would have liked. Still, as long as the kids enjoy it - and they did!

We went to the Sarah P Duke Gardens yesterday. We’d never been there before, and it was really nice - even in Winter. It’s not really large, but it’s great for a short walk. The kids loved it.

We headed down to Myrtle Beach last weekend. We drove down on the Thursday night and stayed through Monday. We stayed at the Dunes Village resort which was excellent.
The resort has an indoor water park, what is exactly what you need when staying in Myrtle Beach in January. Still, while it snowed back home in The Triangle, we got blue skies and sunshine. It did rain on Saturday, but the rest of the days were great - albeit cold!
I wanted to go Dixie Stampede, but there was no shows on until February. I’ll wait until Mum and Dad are over in March.

Tomorrow night I’m taking the boys to Monster Jam!!
NEWS FLASH: Auntie Anna has booked her tickets to come visit us during February. Hooray!
This is an old song, but I still love to sing it now and again. I’ve heard many versions of this recently and it reminded me of how long I’ve been meaning to record it.
It’s a simple, but powerful cry out to Jesus - DRAW ME CLOSE TO YOU GOD!
Sometimes we get caught up in other things that life throws at us. God slowly becomes something other than our first priority in life. This song reminds me what it’s all about.
ALL I WANT IS YOU LORD!! I WANT THAT CLOSENESS BACK!! DRAW ME!!

The title of this post has been in draft status since August 2007 when it caught my eye among search criteria used to find my blog. I immediately sympathized with this anonymous person - Why can’t I get my church to worship? It was almost a cry out for help, and to be honest I had no idea how to answer it.
I hope to gather some thoughts around the subject and post something more detailed in the future - but for now, here’s something to make you think.
Imagine…
You’re a worship leader.
You’ve just accepted a job offer at a new church.
They preach the Word of God real good.
The sound system and lighting rig is just awesome!
The staff are on fire for God.
You practice real hard and the band just sounds amazing.
The first Sunday you play the congregation just stand there looking at you with blank faces. OK, it’s probably because you’re new, but the next week it’s exactly the same.
What is wrong with these people?
This sounds like one of those reoccurring nightmares worship leaders might have from time to time. But for some this is real life. You can’t just run away - these people need help!
How do you guys rate Worship Leader Magazine? Do you think it is worth subscribing to? What are the enhanced song CDs like? How many songs are on each CD?
I would like to attend some worship conferences this year. If you know of any worthwhile conferences that would be a drive or short flight from the North Carolina area, let me know…
