Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

This is a great song written by Patti Stanton and Joel Klampart (CECWorship).  I feel very privileged to get a chance to do a cover of this.  Thanks Joel!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas!

GrinchThe Grinch is real and he stole my Christmas lights last night.

Give them back Grinch or I’ll do yer knees (a common Irish correctional procedure).

Different Versions of “Nothing But The Blood”

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

I had a look on YouTube and found a ton of different versions of “Nothing But The Blood”.

I think it’s amazing the way a song begs itself to be reinvented over and over. It really shows how great the lyrics are in this hymn.

What’s your favourite version?

Video: Nothing But The Blood

Friday, December 7th, 2007

We would sometimes play the odd hymn during a worship service. This happens to be one of my favourites and I’ve been meaning to record it for ages now. What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus of course!

Ephesians 2:13 says But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.”

This is the first video using the Samson condenser microphone and Logitech webcam combination. I need to play around a bit more over the next few videos to get it right (e.g. more gain on the microphone, more fps in the video).

Video: I’ll Never Let Go Of Your Hand

Friday, December 7th, 2007

You know no matter what situation you are in right now, God is there.

He’ll never let us go, no matter how we are feeling. Right now I feel like I’m lacking God’s direction in my life. I know He led me out here for a reason, but it’s bugging me that I don’t yet know what the reason is. Sometimes I can be too impatient.

Don’t get me wrong, every other aspect of life at the moment is great. I love it out here… but I’m just feeling kind of detached right now from God. I know God has been with me/us every step of the way so it seems silly to feel this way. Perhaps it’s because those I usually had around me for spiritual encouragement are no longer around.

Anyway, this song is an encouragement to me, and anyone else in a similar situation. Just listen to the words. It’s a great song and always well received whereever I sing it. I sure wish I could play the guitar like Don.

December Heat

Friday, December 7th, 2007

I know there’s a drought and everything, but I love the weather here.  Will you just look at this - 73 degrees Fahrenheit this Monday (that’s 23 degrees Celsuis for those folk back home).  Crazy, but nice.

Liz is away to New York this weekend to meet up with some friends who are over for a shopping weekend.

Things sure have changed round here…

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

Ok, I got fed up maintaining two blogs - one for family and one for worship folk.  I’ve decided just to bang them both into one.  I’ve imported the posts from my other blog to this one and it seems to have worked quite well.

You’ll find a whole history of our move to NC, USA and what’s been happening since and loads of photos.  You should know that some of the posts are written by my 7 year old son, Nathan.   I’ve changed the theme as well so the post author is displayed at the bottom of each post.

I trust it won’t blur the main focus of this blog.  God bless.
