Shopping!!

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Cable GuyWe sure did some shopping this weekend! We bought sofa’s, tables, chairs, tv’s, dvd players, airbeds, sleeping bags, pans, toasters, kettles, plates, cups, bowls, cutlery, tea towels and much more! Our cards are practically melting with being swiped so much at the moment.

Our feet are sore too. We didn’t move in today. There was too much to do. We’ll move in tomorrow afternoon instead after church.

The cable guy is coming out this Wednesday to hook us up with cable and internet. Our furniture is arriving on the Wednesday after that.

Once the Internet is hooked up, we plan to use a company called vonage that will allow us unlimited calls to home for only $24 per month! That will be so good - can’t wait!

South India

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

We went to South India tonight - I mean Morrisville! We took Manish and Maurice up to see the house tonight and then we went to an authentic South Indian restaurant (1.5 miles from our new house!). Manish was almost wetting himself with excitement.

The food was really authentic, but it was vegetarian only. I’d rather have a bit of meat in my curries to be honest. We all got some form of Masala Dosia. The guys couldn’t believe the size of the dosia when it was brought out.

We plan to move into our new house this weekend. We have a few things to buy before we can move in - airbeds, blankets, kettle, pans, plates, cutlery, phones and of course, a TV!

I sent an email before leaving work today requesting shipment of the container now that we have a signed lease. Liz will be visiting the school tomorrow to register the kids and hopefully get them started on Monday.

It’s a real hassle now deciding on which providers to use for all the different services we need! Starting from scratch in a new country is not easy! But…. we’re not complaining! ;-)

Party Time!

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

We went to a party on Wednesday night.  My new boss invited us and the kids round for a Halloween hayride.  It was great fun.  The kids couldn’t believe it!

We travelled around the neighbourhood on the back of a trailer.  If a house had lights/decorations on we would stop and let the kids out.  They would run up to the house and collect sweets in their candy buckets.

Even Katie was well into it.  Every time the trailer stopped, away she went, candy bucket in hand up to the door to get some sweets!  The kids wore glo-sticks so we could see them all running about in the dark.

We’ve put the kids’ candy up in the cupboard and are waiting until they forget about it and then Liz and I can safely eat it…
